About the Role
The Environmental Project Specialist coordinates all onsite activities related to the storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role also serves as the liaison between clients and vendors and upholds pre‑established safety and environmental standards. Key duties include coordinating logistics for waste transport—profiling, scheduling, manifesting, and loading bulk and drum loads—performing inspections, reporting compliance status, and resolving issues quickly. The specialist also assists with client and vendor financial obligations such as invoicing, reporting, and contract management, while promoting a safety‑first culture through training and oversight. In a supervisory capacity, the specialist directly manages up to ten full‑time operations‑level employees, providing team building, leadership, and performance guidance. • Coordinate hazardous, universal, and non‑hazardous waste transport (profiling, scheduling, manifesting, loading). • Perform inspections and report to ensure client and regulatory compliance; resolve issues promptly. • Manage client and vendor financial tasks such as invoicing, reporting, and contract administration. • Train and coach site personnel on safety, environmental, federal, state, and local regulations. • Directly supervise up to 10 full‑time operations employees. • Work in indoor and outdoor settings, handling objects up to 50 lb and exposure to physical hazards.

What You Bring
Qualifications include an associate’s degree in environmental sciences, accounting, business or a related field (or a high‑school diploma with two years of relevant experience), plus at least one year of related work experience. Required certifications and licenses are RCRA and DOT compliance knowledge, a valid driver’s license, the ability to obtain a CDL and a 24‑hour HAZWOPER certification, and experience with waste manifesting and profiling. Pre‑employment drug or alcohol testing may be required by certain customers. The role demands strong customer focus, entrepreneurial thinking, creative problem‑solving, concise communication, decisive decision‑making, strategic thinking, leadership, and solid business acumen. Candidates should be self‑motivated, able to work with urgency, and capable of building relationships. The work environment involves frequent indoor and outdoor site visits, handling objects up to 50 lb, and exposure to physical hazards such as cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather. Good finger dexterity and motor coordination are required for tasks like keyboarding and machine operation.
