About the Role
The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all building operating systems, and may serve as the sole engineer for a single property. Reliable transportation and on‑call availability for after‑hour emergencies are required. The role includes performing preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life‑safety, fire protection, and security systems to ensure proper operation. Administrative tasks involve maintaining logs, using work‑order software, and coordinating approvals with contractors, tenants, and management. • Conduct periodic lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, and replacement of consumable parts (e.g., filters, indicator lights) on equipment. • Service air handling units, rooftop and built‑up units, recirculating air systems, water pumping systems, cooling plant, and plumbing components. • Respond to tenant requests for safety, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental issues via personal contact and work‑order systems. • Maintain organized building files and detailed maintenance records. • Coordinate plowing and salting activities with outside vendors for snow and ice clearing. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and make independent decisions. • Participate in Bright Horizons backup‑care program. • Take part in a referral program and networking opportunities.

What You Bring
Candidates must possess a high school diploma, at least five years of building‑operations engineering experience, CFC high‑pressure certification, and any necessary licenses, as well as strong computer and safety‑training skills. • Hold proficient computer and email skills and complete required safety classes.
