About the Role
The Gauge Setter ensures accurate gauge settings across the plant, collaborating with co‑workers, suppliers, supervisors, and personnel in other divisions. This role maintains calibration records, interprets inspection results, and develops procedures and updates to the calibration manual as needed. Daily responsibilities include inspecting components for dimensional and visual characteristics, operating specialized equipment such as Magnaflux, optical comparators, and hardness testers, and performing related functions like etching and audit inspections. The incumbent also manages documentation, moves parts within the inspection area, and supports shipment and receiving processes. All activities adhere to safety, ethics, export‑import, environmental, and AS‑9100 compliance programs, ensuring the highest standards of quality and security. • Review engineering prints for limitations and specifications • Select, distribute, and set up gauges; verify or create new standards • Clean gauges and report major repair needs to the chief gauge setter • Perform dimensional, roundness, and profile tracing inspections; interpret results • Operate and maintain Magnaflux, natal etch, optical comparators, and hardness testers • Conduct component and assembly inspections, including defect detection and sizing • Complete inspection paperwork such as reports, rework, scrap, sizing tickets, and production cards • Prepare, pack, and ship components with accurate documentation • Perform receiving and induction HT inspections using software and gauging tools • Maintain I, M & TE calibration records and equipment verification • Develop and update procedures and calibration manuals • Follow ethics, safety, export/import security, environmental compliance, and AS‑9100 standards
