About the Role
Role Summary: The Superintendent 1 will help plan, manage and execute all aspects of assigned projects. This position will be responsible for managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring documentation is complete and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn. • Makes decisions within defined limits of authority and consults supervisor on other decisions. • Lead safety culture, mentor staff, investigate incidents and retrain as needed. • Manage subcontractors and overall job workflow. • Oversee staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs (Safety, Quality, EEO) for projects. • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work. • Coordinate and control the project site. • Lead daily standup and weekly trade meetings. • Participate in progress and OAC meetings. • Create, manage, and adjust project schedule with Project Manager. • Track and monitor project budget and costs using management system reports. • Communicate key information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors, and suppliers. • Maintain project filing system, update drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks. • Approve and record unit cost information for weekly and daily reports. • Evaluate self‑perform work progress and make adjustments. • Manage material and equipment needs. • Support MOC and DLSC procurement and approval processes. • Select formwork, tools, and equipment for self‑perform operations. • Approve timecards, ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes. • Ensure quality compliance via specifications, QA/QC standards, and external resources. • Supervise pre‑punch activities and coordinate project closeouts with owners and authorities. • Collaborate with field leadership to create and adjust project pre‑plan throughout lifecycle. • Partner with field leadership to establish staffing for assigned project. • Partner with project management to identify schedule and cost impacts of changes. • Participate in negotiations with owners and architects for project changes. • Prepare and present for project review meetings, including monthly reviews. • Engage in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors. • Apply terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts. • Identify and recruit top talent. • Promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring non‑discrimination policies are actively implemented. • Conduct effective presentations. • Build relationships that transcend individual projects. • Utilize JE Dunn construction technology. • Manage budgets, maximize profitability, and generate future work through relationships. • Interpret document changes and assess schedule impact. • Collaborate effectively within internal and external teams.
