The Service Tech 5 – Refrigeration role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing commercial or industrial refrigeration systems, handling complex technical issues, and guiding junior technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable equipment operation. Join the growing CoolSys team, connect on social media, and apply for this senior service technician position, bringing expertise in HVAC/R, diagnostics, commercial service, installation, and field work to a dynamic environment. • Report to work punctually as scheduled. • Repair and overhaul compressors, water pumps, air handlers, and control devices. • Test malfunctioning systems using electrical and mechanical skills. • Keep clear corporate and personal work records. • Perform general repairs on HVAC, refrigeration, ice machines, gas furnaces, and electric motors. • Conduct preventative maintenance and diagnose equipment inefficiencies. • Execute minor construction, remodeling, and startup of new installations. • Identify refrigeration floor‑plan symbols. • Read compressor parameters, compression ratios, and diagnose deficiencies. • Apply proper material‑handling techniques. • Adjust HVAC valve settings, perform leak detection, and report major refrigerant leaks. • Demonstrate correct PPE usage and safety equipment. • Follow company policies, state and federal regulations.

What You Bring
Work is performed in convenience stores, grocery stores, food‑service venues, and construction sites, often at heights using ladders or scissor lifts and in noisy mechanical rooms. Technicians are exposed to extreme cold from refrigerants, high heat from brazing, inclement weather, dust, and must use proper PPE and safety practices while lifting up to 60 lb and performing physically demanding tasks. • Hold a high school diploma or GED with relevant trade or technical training. • Pass Tech Skills level 4 with 80% or higher. • Possess a valid EPA certification. • Have 5+ years of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical experience. • Know refrigeration, HVAC, ice machines, gas furnaces, and basic electrical systems. • Experience with refrigeration in convenience stores or supermarkets is a plus. • Understand single/multiple unit, rack, parallel rack, and control unit systems. • Expertise in open circuits on rack compressor control circuits. • Familiar with lockout/tagout and arc‑flash safety procedures. • Knowledge of electric defrost circuits for case lineups. • Ability to interpret and use RS engineering sheets. • Understand minimum DA/RA and SST requirements for FF/IC systems. • Possess level 2‑3 HVAC/R expertise. • Lift up to 60 lb unassisted; sit/stand for extended periods. • Hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. • Proficient with typical business tools (email, Word, Excel).
