About the Role

The Transfer Station Lead Heavy Equipment Operator ensures safe operation of heavy equipment at a landfill, handling tasks such as transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil efficiently. The role also involves coordinating other equipment operators. Core duties include performing pre‑ and post‑operation inspections, operating forklifts, excavators, bulldozers and front‑end loaders according to safety standards, monitoring waste for unacceptable materials, and maintaining equipment readiness by cleaning tracks and performing minor service. The operator completes equipment condition reports, enforces safety policies, keeps the shop clean, trains new staff, and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
