About the Role
The Operations Manager – Hauling leads collections activities for commercial, industrial and residential customers across a geographically dispersed area. Reporting to the General Manager, this role oversees a team that includes Operations Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operations Clerks, Drivers and Helpers who manage the route system for commercial, roll‑off and residential services. The manager collaborates with other business‑unit leaders to execute a local market strategy that aligns with area‑wide operating and marketing plans, driving functional excellence and budget achievement. Key responsibilities include hiring, training, coaching and performance‑managing staff while setting supervisory goals and resolving safety issues. The manager implements tactical initiatives to maximize customer experience, growth and profitability, and ensures maximum productivity and route efficiency for all service lines. Interaction with customers and government agencies to resolve service concerns and maintain regulatory compliance is also required. Safety and accident‑prevention programs are overseen to provide a safe, productive work environment, with loss‑control measures and compliance with environmental, operational, safety, accounting and ethical standards. The manager approves expenses, manages the operations budget, and oversees purchase orders and vendor pricing. Talent development, best‑practice sharing and cultivating a high‑performing team culture are integral to the role.
