SCHOOL CLEANER

About the Role

• Clean and maintain assigned areas such as classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairways. • Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas. • Empty trash receptacles regularly in all designated areas. • Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures. • Notify lead cleaner or manager of needed minor or major repairs or additions to building systems. • Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co‑workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, and managers. • Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles. • Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceilings, and walls. • Polish hard surfaces such as woodwork and stainless steel. • Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas. • Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to cleaning areas using hand trucks or manually. • Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaners and tools. • Perform seasonal tasks such as sweeping walks, raking leaves, cutting grass, and removing snow. • Maintain restroom cleanliness, including cleaning and polishing as needed. • Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the company, clients, and regulatory authorities.

What You Bring

We are looking for a reliable and experienced School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college or university campus environment. This position is suitable for individuals entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education, and ABM encourages veterans and candidates with military experience to apply. • Must be 18 years of age or older. • No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required. • Prior customer service experience preferred. • One year of prior similar work experience preferred.
