About the Role

Based at the Corporate Office in Dubai, the Fleet Technical Superintendent is responsible for supporting and managing the cost‑effective repairs, maintenance, and overall upkeep of the P&O Maritime Logistics fleet. Technical duties include controlling dockings, special surveys, upgrades, modifications, breakdowns, major accidents, and projects, while supporting technical procurement, insurance matters, and P&I claims. The role provides overall technical support, prepares detailed specifications with regional teams, sources spare parts, travels to vessels as needed, and manages yard personnel, OEM engineers, subcontractors, and service providers. In planning and cost control, the superintendent contributes to project and docking specifications, negotiates with vendors, prepares tender documents, monitors costs and schedules, selects repair yards, and strictly controls vessel technical expenses. He also supports on‑board Planned Preventive Maintenance and assists the Senior Fleet Technical Superintendent in preparing annual budgets and docking plans. Reporting responsibilities involve delivering daily project and docking status reports, updating the NS5 Planned Maintenance System with relevant repair information, and preparing additional reports as directed by senior technical leadership. Additional functions include understanding internal and customer operations, maintaining high technical knowledge through ongoing training, and participating in project reviews to identify successes and opportunities for improvement. • Oversee dockings, special surveys, upgrades, modifications, breakdowns, major accidents, and project execution. • Support technical procurement, insurance matters, and P&I claims. • Prepare detailed project and docking specifications with regional teams. • Source and ensure timely delivery of cost‑effective spare parts to work sites. • Manage yard personnel, OEM engineers, subcontractors, and service providers on site. • Coordinate with regional offices, country managers, and insurance brokers for technical issues and claims. • Contribute to tender preparation, cost/budget/program establishment, and vendor negotiations. • Monitor and control vessel technical costs, reporting deviations to management. • Facilitate on‑board Planned Preventive Maintenance and assist in annual budgeting and docking plans. • Produce daily project status reports and maintain accurate records in the NS5 system. • Participate in NS5 system implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring

Qualifications require a Marine Engineering Class 1 Motor certification (or equivalent degree/master’s) and substantial sea experience as a chief engineer on offshore support vessels, combined with at least five years of supervisory shore‑based experience or ten years as a technical/dry‑docking superintendent. Key attributes are expertise in design, systems integration, and CAD drawing interpretation, thorough knowledge of major class societies (ABS, DNV‑GL, BV), and deep familiarity with Planned Maintenance Systems such as AMOS and NS5. • Hold a Marine Engineering Class 1 Motor (or equivalent degree/master’s) qualification. • Minimum 5 years shore‑based supervisory experience as chief engineer on offshore vessels or 10 years as technical/dry‑docking superintendent. • Proficient in technical design, CAD drawing interpretation, and major class society requirements (ABS, DNV‑GL, BV). • In‑depth experience with Planned Maintenance Systems such as AMOS and NS5.
