About the Role

SUMMARY: Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material to a construction project. • Load, transport, unload, and select appropriate cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves. • Attach pulleys and blocks to overhead structures using bolts and clamps. • Secure loads to crane hooks with loops, wires, ropes, or chains. • Direct crane operators or hoisting engineers using hand signals, loudspeaker, radio, or telephone to ensure safety. • Set up braces and rig hoisting equipment with hand tools and power wrenches. • Tie various knots as required. • Assemble and disassemble cranes. • Splice rope and wire cables to fabricate or repair slings and tackle. • Supervise workers hoisting machinery onto or off ships, railcars, trucks, etc. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Observe all safety rules. • Coordinate hand and foot movements according to visual signals and directions, maintaining accuracy standards. • Rate information using measurable standards. • Interpret flat drawings or diagrams and visualize them as solid objects. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select appropriate tools. • Compare size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects to identify differences.
