About the Role

The GOS Controller provides leadership and supervision to accounting team members at all levels, supporting operations and clients by applying sound judgment and accounting principles to daily processes. The role assesses team and department efficiencies and offers improvement recommendations, while also guiding Client Accounting Managers through complex management situations. Key duties include overseeing market, strategic, and key client relationships, developing productive ties with city leads and internal stakeholders. The controller monitors team performance, capacity, and training needs via one‑on‑one and team meetings, reviews financial reports for quality, timeliness and audit compliance, and ensures timely tax payments, portal updates, time tracking, and corporate aging follow‑up. The controller evaluates workflows and policies to boost operational efficiency, tracks compliance with SOC 1 audit controls, and approves banking and financial transactions according to policy. They develop direct reports through goal setting, performance reviews and timely feedback, lead department projects, and represent the team on Client Accounting committees. Supervisory responsibilities involve assigning and delegating tasks to Client Accounting Managers, senior accountants, coordinators and interns, coordinating project teams to meet deadlines, and providing solutions to routine and complex problems. The controller also directs new‑business onboarding, sets up bank accounts and accounting software, and assists the Controller with pricing proposals and response preparation. • Oversee market, strategic, and key client relationships and collaborate with city leads and internal stakeholders. • Monitor team performance, capacity, and training needs through regular one‑on‑one and team meetings. • Review financial reports for quality, timeliness, audit compliance and assess team competencies. • Ensure timely tax payments, revenue portal updates, time tracking, and corporate aging follow‑up. • Evaluate workflows and policies to improve efficiency and oversee implementation of changes. • Track compliance with SOC 1 audit controls and approve banking/financial transactions per policies. • Develop direct reports via goal setting, performance reviews and timely feedback. • Lead department projects, set goals with leadership, and represent the team on Client Accounting committees. • Direct new‑business onboarding, including bank account setup, accounting software configuration and data loading. • Assist the Controller with pricing proposals and respond to new‑business requests. • Assign and delegate tasks to Client Accounting Managers, senior accountants and support staff, coordinating project teams. • Provide solutions to routine and complex accounting problems for the team.
