About the Role

The role involves general maintenance and repairs, prioritising Zero Harm, safety and risk mitigation. It requires hands‑on technical support across plumbing, gas, drainage, mechanical and air‑conditioning assets, as well as building strong customer relationships and supporting project delivery through design input and cost estimating. • Prioritise Zero Harm, safety, compliance, and risk mitigation in all activities. • Deliver works under leadership direction, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently within time, cost, and resource constraints. • Provide hands‑on technical support across plumbing, gas, drainage, mechanical, air‑conditioning, and facilities assets. • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through collaboration, positive engagement, and value‑adding solutions. • Support project delivery through scoping, design input, specifications, costing, quoting, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Supervise, mentor, and train apprentices/junior staff while responding effectively to reactive, maintenance, and unexpected works. • Complete work safely and meet client and contract needs. • Coordinate other trades as required to fully complete jobs.

Working in a prison environment requires confidence and professionalism, with the 24/7 nature of the site meaning occasional after‑hours work. The successful candidate will manage jobs and situations that arise outside normal business hours while maintaining safety and compliance. Ideal candidates are resilient, detail‑oriented team players with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. They must hold a current NZ Certifying Plumber licence, be able to work unsupervised, hold a full class‑one driver’s licence, and be physically fit for regular bending and lifting tasks.
