About the Role

The Heavy Equipment Operator is an entry‑level position focused on the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. The role involves working at various job sites and may require travel to other states based on customer demand. Key responsibilities include safely performing new construction, maintenance, and repair work on both energized and de‑energized overhead lines, stringing overhead wire, and setting poles and anchors. The operator assists with installing transformers, lightning arresters, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear, as well as replacing fuses, clearing faulted circuits, and checking voltages on transformers. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead transmission systems. • String overhead wires and set poles/anchors. • Assist with installation of transformers, lightning arresters, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Replace fuses, clear faulted circuits, and check voltages on transformers. • Operate heavy equipment and apply basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot techniques. • Conduct bucket rescue/escape and work safely at heights or in confined spaces. • Follow flag‑and‑tag procedures, maintain minimum approach distances, and use PPE correctly. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order. • Travel to multiple sites, including out‑of‑state locations, on short notice. • Lift more than 50 lb, inspect rubber goods and PPE, and be willing to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.

What You Bring

Candidates must have 1–2 years of relevant experience, be able to read and communicate effectively in English, and obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) permit within 60 days of hire (a CDL is preferred). The role requires the ability to travel long distances on short notice, lift over 50 lb, inspect rubber goods and PPE, and work overtime, including weekends and holidays. The position demands rigorous physical labor and the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, with frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, loud noise, and vibration. Employees must be capable of working at heights or in confined spaces and performing basic bucket rescue or escape procedures. • Hold 1–2 years of experience; read and communicate in English; obtain CDL permit within 60 days of hire.
