About the Role
• Perform cost control and financial management • Collaborate with Preconstruction on estimates and schedules • Coordinate project scopes of work • Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and financial documents • Partner with the Project Manager or Construction Executive • Draft client proposals • Administer and manage contracts • Direct the project team to ensure safe and timely completion • Serve as liaison, mentor, and coach for project engineers • Assign jobs and manage career development for team members • Guide Field Engineers and Project Engineers • Manage subcontractors and suppliers • Oversee budgets and recommend subcontractor and trade partner selections • Lead project buyout negotiations with subcontractors and trade partners • Facilitate coordination meetings among subcontractors • Lead 3‑D coordination to resolve pre‑installation conflicts • Manage commissioning process, including start‑up plan, COT, schedule, and functional testing • Conduct project closeout activities such as O&M manuals, model turnover, and training • Perform on‑site Project Manager duties for small‑scope projects • Implement a quality plan meeting customer performance criteria in design and construction • Interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively • Provide medical, prescription, vision, and dental coverage at no additional cost

What You Bring
Mortenson is looking for an experienced Assistant MEP Project Manager who can engage with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. The role requires flexibility, resourcefulness, proactive problem‑solving, and a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. The assistant will partner with the Project Manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes, and will also lead, coach, and mentor project team members. Job postings typically remain open for a minimum of five days, averaging 44 days. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role, and candidates must already have legal authorization to work in the United States. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience • Possess at least five years of relevant experience, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor • Demonstrate ability to handle complex project responsibilities • Exhibit strong attention to detail and multitask management • Understand basic construction law and standard business practices • Use Microsoft Office, project software, and web applications at an intermediate level • Maintain a positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills • Hold a current driver’s license

Benefits
The position offers a base salary range of $102,000 to $137,700, with higher rates for locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C., and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
