About the Role

The Groundman position offers an entry point to a rewarding career building, repairing, and maintaining the nation’s power grid. In this role you will assist your team with overhead electrical distribution systems, supporting line‑workers to achieve project objectives and responding quickly to storm restoration needs. • Ensure safety for self and crew. • Assist line workers to meet project goals. • Promptly join storm restoration efforts. • Operate vehicles and equipment professionally. • Travel long distances on short notice when required. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead lines. • Inspect personal protective equipment and rubber goods; wear appropriate PPE. • String overhead wire, set poles and anchors, and install transformers and related hardware. • Replace fuses, clear faults, and check voltages on transformers and circuits. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good condition. • Use company radio, rigging, hand lines, knots, and hand tools correctly. • Follow directions and understand materials, voltage types, and safety distances. • Conduct basic bucket rescue, grounding, and excavation tasks. • Identify and work with various line‑work materials; use Kellum grips when appropriate.

What You Bring

The job demands regular communication, frequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and handling of tools, often exceeding 50 lb, while maintaining keen vision and balance. Work is performed outdoors under diverse weather conditions and may involve exposure to fumes, vibration, loud noise, and other hazards typical of power‑line construction. Applicants must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days, demonstrate effective reading, writing and communication skills, and be prepared to travel long distances on short notice.
