About the Role
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, the incumbent will perform routine mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment throughout the thermal generating fleet. The role requires effective teamwork, occasional travel across the province to support other sites, participation in regulatory and on‑the‑job training, and strict adherence to occupational health and safety rules, the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy, and environmental management system processes. • Perform routine mechanical maintenance and repairs on thermal generating equipment. • Collaborate with team members in a planned work environment. • Travel across the province to support other locations as needed. • Participate in regulatory and on‑the‑job training programs. • Follow OHS rules and the Emera Alcohol & Drug Policy to ensure safety. • Maintain environmental compliance according to the management system. • Engage in community initiatives, mentoring, and employee resource groups.

Nova Scotia Power's Power Production department at the Lingan Generating Station in Lingan, NS is seeking a Maintenance Person Certified. This full‑time, on‑site role offers a salary of $48.41 per hour under the NSPI/IBEW Collective Agreement, with applications closing on February 17, 2026. Candidates must hold a Red Seal certification (Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Steamfitter/Pipefitter, Machinist, or High‑Pressure Welder) and have at least three years of modern mechanical maintenance experience in a generating station or similar industry. Essential skills include strong problem‑resolution abilities, flexibility, excellent interpersonal communication, solid computer aptitude, and the physical capability to work at heights and handle heavy equipment. Additional journeyperson certifications are considered assets. The position demands significant physical effort, including lifting 40‑50 lb from floor to overhead, pushing or pulling up to 100 lb, and performing static reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs or ladders, occasional crawling, and frequent neck flexion and rotation. • Hold a Red Seal certification with at least three years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate strong problem‑resolution, adaptability, and interpersonal skills. • Utilize solid computer aptitude and manage multiple tasks efficiently. • Meet physical requirements such as lifting 40‑50 lb, pushing/pulling up to 100 lb, and working at heights.
