About the Role

The Design Engineer is responsible for producing pattern designs and for designing, developing, and testing electronic and embedded systems. They collaborate with various teams to bring projects from conception to completion using CAD software and simulation tools, and they contribute to testing and design modifications that improve product quality and function. At Hubbell, a typical day involves working on new product development teams, designing and validating microcontroller‑based PCBs, performing board‑ and system‑level testing and troubleshooting, and evaluating designs for cost efficiency and reliability. The role also requires close interaction with mechanical and software engineers, sales, production, vendors, and board houses to ensure successful product delivery. • Participate in new product development teams, handling requirements analysis and system design. • Design, develop, test, and validate microcontroller‑based printed circuit boards. • Perform board‑level and system‑level testing, troubleshooting, and validation of new and existing products. • Evaluate products, parts, and processes for cost efficiency and reliability. • Implement design modifications to enhance product quality and functionality. • Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers, sales, production, vendors, and board houses.

What You Bring

Successful candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field, and have 3–6 years of industry experience in electronics‑based product development. Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, and library management is required, along with strong knowledge of component selection, circuit analysis, and documentation of design, testing, and validation processes. Additional preferred skills include experience with test equipment and measurement methodologies, designing for regulatory compliance (UL, CSA, FCC), and programming in C/C++ and Python. Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to create cost‑effective, reliable designs are essential. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field. • Possess 3–6 years of electronics‑based product development experience. • Proficient in Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, Gerber generation, and library management. • Experienced in creating microcontroller‑based PCB designs and selecting electronic components. • Strong organizational skills for documenting design, testing, and validation processes. • Familiar with test equipment, measurement methodologies, and regulatory requirements (UL, CSA, FCC). • Preferred programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
