About the Role

The Technical Writer will be responsible for proof‑reading, formatting, stylesheet verification, copy editing, and production planning of technical documents, while ensuring compliance with presentation standards and consistency of abbreviations, acronyms, and boilerplate material. The role also involves compiling tables of contents, lists of figures, references, and printer’s dummies, marking copy for spacing and corrections, conducting research to support copywriting, and assisting in drafting reports, manuals, white papers, and other technical content. You will work directly with project managers, engineers, and SMEs to review content and illustrations, recommend improvements, and recast text as needed. Coordination of document production schedules with other writers and resources, verification of reproduced materials, and independent or team‑based completion of assignments by scheduled deadlines are also required. • Proofread, edit, format, and verify technical documents, ensuring compliance with presentation standards and style guidelines. • Compile and verify tables of contents, lists of figures/tables, references, and printer’s dummies. • Mark copy for spacing, indentation, and corrections; conduct research to validate technical details and acronyms. • Draft, revise, and recast reports, manuals, white papers, and other internal/external technical content. • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and SMEs to review and improve content, illustrations, and accuracy. • Coordinate document production schedules with writers and resources to meet deadlines. • Perform post‑production verification of reproduced materials against printer’s dummies. • Interview SMEs and translate technical information into clear, concise documentation.

What You Bring

Parsons is seeking a talented Technical Writer to join our team. In this role you will collaborate with Project Managers, Technical Subject Matter Experts, and other team members to produce high‑quality, compliant, and compelling documentation for transportation‑related projects. You will create, edit, and refine technical content, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, and at least five years of technical writing experience focused on system and process documentation. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, able to interview SMEs, and proficient in reviewing documents for typographical and grammatical accuracy. Strong time‑management, multitasking, and collaboration skills are essential, along with experience using Office 365, SharePoint, and excellent verbal and written communication in English. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field. • Minimum 5+ years of technical writing experience with system and process documentation expertise. • Detail‑oriented with strong grammar, punctuation, and style editing skills. • Proficient in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint. • Excellent time management, multitasking, and communication abilities.
