Designs, manufactures, and services elevators, escalators, and moving walkways worldwide.
Executive, Electrical System Engineer
Lead design and integration of elevator electrical subsystems and documentation
Job Highlights
About the Role
The engineer will be responsible for designing and integrating elevator electrical subsystems, developing concepts, creating wire-harness designs, preparing bills of material, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. They will select and size critical components, perform system calculations, and provide technical leadership using Otis standards. The role also includes participation in design reviews, risk analysis, qualification testing, root‑cause investigations, and supporting sales, manufacturing, and supply-chain teams. • Design and integrate elevator electrical subsystems, ensuring compliance with control system requirements, motor & VF drive interfaces, and electrical codes. • Develop concepts, review, and create electrical component and subsystem design requirements. • Design wire harnesses and manage interfaces between elevator components through electrification and signaling. • Prepare Bills of Material for elevator control systems across various ratings. • Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and propose innovative alternative designs. • Select and size key electrical components such as relays, safety sensors, circuit breakers, switches, transformers, and protection systems. • Propose and integrate alternative drives, machines, and controllers when products become obsolete. • Perform electrical system calculations for cable sizing, power converter sizing, machine sizing, heat release, and power supply design. • Provide technical leadership using OTIS design standards for cost, manufacturability, reliability, and safety. • Participate in design reviews and conduct failure and risk analysis using OTIS tools (PROCERT, FTA, FMEA, RAMP, RRCA, DoE). • Develop and execute qualification and reliability test plans per OTIS/International standards (EN/IEC). • Conduct root‑cause analysis of test results and field failures. • Support sales, manufacturing, and supply‑chain teams with product expertise and troubleshooting.
