About the Role

The Light Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of hand-held mechanical devices on project sites, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklifts, graders, diggers, drills, generators, saws, and pumps. The role requires understanding and adhering to safety hazards associated with the equipment and tools, and the ability to work in plant operations or construction environments. The position involves a range of tasks that support site operations, from equipment handling to assisting other craft workers. These duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. • Read and interpret load charts • Interpret hand signals to determine material placement • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities for tools and equipment • Conduct daily equipment inspections, including checking fluids, refueling, adding fluids, and assessing component wear • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies • Assist other craft workers as needed

What You Bring

Physical requirements include the ability to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lb. (occasionally up to 100 lb.), perform repetitive hand and arm motions, climb and maintain balance on various structures, and work in diverse conditions such as uneven terrain, mud, loose rock, or adverse weather. Operators must also be able to drive cars, trucks, forklifts, and operate hand and power tools, as well as work in confined spaces when needed. Mentally, the operator must communicate effectively with management and supervision, comprehend and convey written and verbal directions, and maintain concentration amid distractions. Decision‑making, attention to detail, and the ability to work at varying tempos are essential.
