About the Role

The role involves observing and documenting field activities during construction, sampling and testing soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel, performing calculations and data reduction, and drafting results. The technician will use field screening equipment, record readings, read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. Daily interaction with contractors, technicians, and project managers is required, and the individual will eventually serve as the sole representative of ECS on project sites. • Observe and document construction field activities. • Sample, test, and inspect soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel. • Perform calculations, data reduction, and draft test results. • Operate field screening equipment and record readings. • Read maps, follow directions, and interpret engineering and construction plans. • Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers. • Serve as the sole ECS representative on project sites. • Provide reliable transportation to job sites (mileage reimbursed).

What You Bring

Candidates should be actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field and have an interest in how building materials are used in construction. The position involves frequent lifting of 40–70 lb loads (occasionally up to 85 lb to waist height) and requires reliable personal transportation to job sites, with mileage reimbursement provided. Relocation assistance is not offered. • Pursue a B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering, construction management, or related field. • Lift 40–70 lb repeatedly (occasionally 85 lb to waist height).
