About the Role
You will join Southern Water’s Wastewater Team, responsible for maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations. The role requires ensuring compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Our 24/7 incident support team ensures rapid resolution of water service issues; all employees understand the importance of out‑of‑hours support and may be asked about incident rotas during the interview process. • Undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment. • Install new plant and equipment as required. • Respond to alarms and fault‑find issues, fixing or escalating as needed. • Carry out inspection and testing on mechanical equipment following company procedures. • Provide technical expertise to internal and external contractors. • Update company systems and databases accurately and promptly. • Participate in standby cover on a 1‑in‑8 rota basis.

What You Bring
• Hold a Level 3 NVQ Mechanical qualification with certificates. • Possess a full UK driving licence. • Demonstrate problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure. • Experience in the water industry. • Strong understanding of pumping station operation and wastewater treatment processes. • Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
