Senior VDC Specialist

About the Role

The Senior Virtual Design Construction Specialist provides routine Building Information Modeling (BIM) administration and coordination for assigned projects. The role delivers models and documents, offers BIM technical support, and assembles 3D content created by others, all in alignment with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. The specialist supplies the models and documents required to meet project scope, assembles and creates 3D content, and maintains a productive BIM process. They generate clear project documentation, support the RFI process, maintain relationships with subcontractors and teams, read construction documents, incorporate design updates, and analyze models for errors. Additionally, they support self‑perform model management and layout. In addition, the senior VDC specialist provides BIM technical support, independently conducts an efficient VDC process, communicates project constraints, trains teams on BIM tools, aligns owner requirements with BIM execution plans, and gains exposure to complex VDC delivery strategies, field layout, and self‑perform VDC processes. • Provide BIM models and documents needed to complete project scope as defined by VDC leadership. • Assemble 3D content created by others and model missing elements. • Maintain an efficient BIM process and update project models with design changes. • Create and manage project documentation such as meeting agendas, minutes, and constraint logs. • Support the RFI process for BIM‑related items and manage self‑perform model layout. • Analyze construction documents and models to identify and correct errors or omissions. • Maintain working relationships with subcontractors and project teams. • Deliver BIM technical support to internal project teams. • Independently manage and improve the VDC workflow. • Communicate VDC constraints promptly to supervisors and teams. • Provide training on BIM tools and workflows. • Align owner requirements, BIM execution plans, and front‑end scopes to meet project minimums. • Support complex VDC delivery strategies and field layout processes. • Apply lean process principles and solve complex problems. • Lead project teams through VDC processes and set up project‑specific VDC technology. • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications; collaborate internally and externally.

What You Bring

The specialist makes decisions on non‑routine matters, recommends actions to supervisors, and escalates exceptions. The position follows a career path toward VDC Manager. The role requires accurate, timely work, strong verbal and written communication, proficiency in MS Office, effective presentation skills, and knowledge of lean processes. The specialist must solve complex problems, lead teams through VDC processes, set up project‑specific VDC technology, read plans and specifications, and apply JE Dunn’s BIM standards while collaborating internally and externally. A bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field is required, though relevant experience may substitute. Candidates need at least two years of construction or related experience and two years of BIM experience. The position requires a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Travel, non‑traditional hours, and work at project sites or the office may be required, with possible exposure to extreme temperatures.
