About the Role

The Transmission Line Engineer will deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering and design services for transmission projects, including renewable-energy interconnections and grid modernization. The incumbent will provide technical direction, lead discipline work, manage project schedules and budgets, and support proposal development and cost estimating. The position reports to the transmission engineering team and operates with minimal supervision. • Provide engineering and technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve transmission line problems. • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively. • Prepare thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, calculations, sketches, and documentation. • Continuously improve engineering knowledge, technical skills, and professional performance. • Understand and create comprehensive transmission line drawing packages. • Support company goals and represent the organization positively and professionally. • Interact daily with customers' internal engineers and technical personnel. • Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers. • Monitor deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions to clients as needed. • Deliver complete design packages—including drawings, bills of material, and specifications—on time and within budget. • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE standards in design work. • Mentor designers and drafters while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. • Conduct site visits to advise on engineering issues and adjust designs during construction. • Provide project management support and assist in proposal and contract preparation. • Support permitting activities and verify engineering drawings in field or construction environments.

What You Bring

A bachelor’s degree in engineering accredited by ABET is required, preferably in civil/structural or electrical engineering. Candidates should have 1‑3 years of experience in electrical power delivery, with a preference for those holding EIT status or working toward a PE license. Desired qualifications include at least two years of high‑voltage transmission line design (≥69 kV) and familiarity with NESC, ASCE, ACI, and IEEE standards. The role involves regular office work combined with occasional field activities, requiring the ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for tools. Physical demands include lifting up to 25 lb occasionally and exposure to peripheral‑vision tasks, moderate noise, and occasional outdoor weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Possess 2+ years of high‑voltage transmission line design experience (≥69 kV). • Demonstrate knowledge of line component functions, foundation design, grounding, lightning protection, and sag/tension limits. • Proficient in PLSCADD line design, PLSPOLE structure design, MFAD foundation design, cost estimating, and contract documentation.
