About the Role

The Senior Resident Engineer will provide technical leadership, quality‑assurance oversight, and coordination among inspectors, contractors, owners, and sub‑consultants to keep complex infrastructure projects on track. • Provide quality assurance and technical guidance. • Review and approve monthly pay estimates with contractors. • Prepare and review correspondence between contractors and owners. • Schedule and oversee testing agencies. • Maintain project records. • Respond to contractor Requests for Information. • Coordinate equipment and facility start‑up activities. • Conduct or facilitate construction meetings. • Manage inspectors and on‑site personnel. • Prepare and review change order documents. • Assist document control staff with contractor schedule compliance. • Prepare progress reports. • Prepare substantial and final completion documents.

What You Bring

GFT is seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer – Roadway to join its Construction Services team in Hartford, CT. This full‑time, onsite role will lead roadway‑related transportation projects while ensuring quality, safety, and field efficiency. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. • Professional Engineer (PE) license (CT preferred) or NICET Level IV or ASCE Grade V. • Minimum 15 years of construction inspection and management experience on roadway, highway, or bridge projects. • Prior experience with CTDOT or other regional transportation agencies preferred. • OSHA 30‑hour certification or ability to obtain within three months. • Working knowledge of Project Management Procedures (PMPs) and Guidelines (PMGs) preferred. • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with project stakeholders. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and schedules. • Ability to work in the field, navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders, work at heights, and operate in varied weather conditions. • Availability for occasional night and weekend work. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site travel.
