About the Role
The Cross Sector and Technical Services Leader is responsible for operations of these teams, including staff management, establishing a culture of quality, assisting in business development, and partnering with other area cross‑sector and technical services leads. This role will partner with the business group to drive growth of our Cross Sector services, deliver technical services to a range of teams, and support cross‑business‑group key pursuits (BGX). The leader maintains a deep understanding of HDR’s service breadth and how clients perceive their technical needs, and, together with the Business Group Manager, packages HDR expertise as solutions. The role works with Section and Business Class Managers to delegate responsibilities appropriately. • Develop and mentor Cross Sector and Technical Services staff, including career planning, hiring justification, utilization, and performance management. • Review and oversee pre‑contract decisions, fee proposals, negotiations, contract signing, and project execution for the team. • Manage budgets focusing on billability, overhead, training, and professional association participation. • Lead project reviews covering scope, schedule, fee, profitability, and risk management. • Allocate marketing budgets for client development and staff conference participation. • Drive a culture of quality through proactive project management and documentation in partnership with Project Delivery Lead and office QMS. • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of team members and provide hands‑on mentoring on client requirements. • Coordinate staff assignments for project management and technical roles across market sectors and business classes. • Lead cross‑sector collaboration with other Business Groups and advance strategic plan initiatives. • Partner with digital delivery, design, and Project Delivery leaders to shape the Area Business Group design team structure and strategy. • Serve as Principal‑in‑Charge, Project Sponsor, or Project Manager on select projects.

What You Bring
• Preferred qualifications: experience developing and executing strategic growth initiatives; deep knowledge of HDR services; staff management and career development expertise; strong teamwork and communication skills. • Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field; 10+ years of experience; professional registration; commitment to quality, HDR values, and employee‑owned culture; proven ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate with business leaders.
