About the Role

The Geotechnical Area Business Class Leader will guide the Geospatial technical capabilities across Southern California, overseeing staffing, resource balancing, and Business Class utilization in collaboration with project managers and area leaders. This role drives marketing initiatives, supports pursuit and proposal development, and prioritizes activities to align with market sector and business group objectives. Additionally, the leader ensures quality and performance standards, manages client relationships, and mentors staff while advancing GIS technology usage. • Provide leadership for Geospatial technical capabilities within the area. • Manage project staffing, resource balancing, and Business Class utilization with PMs and group managers. • Champion marketing opportunities and support pursuit and proposal development. • Drive top‑line growth across market sectors and prioritize activities in Southern California. • Oversee QA/QC procedures, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions. • Serve as client manager, project principal, and senior technical resource. • Build and retain relationships with staff, project managers, and client development managers. • Provide strategic input on business trends and manage staff workloads, recruiting, and training. • Ensure effective use of GIS technology and develop mentoring and advancement processes.

What You Bring

• Demonstrate a problem‑solving attitude and strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. • Bachelor’s degree in GIS or a closely related field. • Minimum of 10 years leading GIS projects and teams. • Experience managing large, multi‑office geospatial programs and budgets. • Ability to prepare scopes, cost estimates, and financial reports. • Strong leadership, organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities. • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills. • Detail‑oriented with advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills. • Experience developing training programs, marketing plans, and proposals. • Proficiency in ArcGIS, ArcGIS extensions, Microsoft 365, MS Office, and SharePoint. • Esri certification; GISP, AICP, PE or other professional certifications a plus. • Understanding of civil engineering terminology preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in professional, architecture, engineering, or a related field. • At least 10 years of relevant experience. • Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience. • Experience developing and managing diverse teams. • Ability to work cooperatively with other leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
