About the Role

The technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical and electrical aspects of underground mining equipment and components according to manufacturer specifications. Responsibilities also include commissioning new equipment and delivering training at customer sites. Key duties involve inspecting equipment for performance, identifying faults, adjusting or replacing defective parts, and testing repaired machinery to ensure proper operation. The technician will also commission new equipment, complete accurate time records, technical and failure reports, and parts lists, while staying current with industry and product developments. Environmental health and safety duties require compliance with safety policies, government and client regulations, performing risk assessments before tasks, maintaining tools and a clean work area, and reporting unsafe habits, incidents or near‑misses. The role also includes attending EHS training and wearing the required personal protective equipment. • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical components of underground mining equipment. • Inspect equipment, adjust or replace defective parts, and test repairs to ensure proper operation. • Commission new equipment and provide on‑site training to customers. • Complete accurate time, technical, failure reports and parts lists. • Perform risk assessments and adhere to EHS policies, reporting unsafe conditions. • Maintain hand tools, ensure housekeeping, and wear required personal protective equipment.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a diploma or certificate in a mechanical/electrical field (or equivalent experience) and have at least five years of experience with underground mining equipment; experience with Sandvik equipment is an asset. Required skills include reading hydraulic and electrical schematics, strong written and verbal communication, computer literacy in MS Office, a valid driver’s licence, and willingness to travel across Canada and work varied shifts. • Read hydraulic and electrical schematics; communicate findings verbally and in writing. • Hold a diploma or certificate in a mechanical/electrical field and at least five years of underground mining equipment experience. • Possess a valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel across Canada and work varied shifts.
