About the Role
The Technical Support Engineer will be based at the field depot and provide technical assistance for fault diagnosis, routine maintenance and installation of traffic signal and ancillary equipment. The role ensures seamless operation of traffic systems, optimises processes and leads improvement projects to enhance service delivery. • Provide technical support on traffic signal equipment. • Diagnose complex faults and perform installations of CCTV, VMS, wireless communications, routers, and signal controller configurations. • Offer expertise to other Technical Support Engineers and assist maintenance/installation teams. • Configure and commission traffic signalling equipment. • Standby for emergency repairs and out‑of‑hours service contract requirements. • Collaborate with Poole Technical Support and Engineering teams to refine processes and tools. • Initiate and drive improvement projects to optimise operational efficiency. • Work with managers to ensure consistent high‑quality work. • Implement best practices to address team inconsistencies. • Coach and mentor engineers for professional development. • Undertake training to stay updated with new equipment and systems.

What You Bring
Candidates need an HNC/ONC/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in electrical engineering, a full UK driving licence and experience with the National Highway Sector Scheme, intelligent traffic systems and industrial electrical testing. Core competencies include proactive teamwork, flexibility, strong organisational skills and proficiency with product‑specific software and MS Office. • Complete mandatory NHSS training. • HNC/ONC/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in electrical engineering. • Full UK driving licence. • Experience with National Highway Sector Scheme level 8. • Knowledge of intelligent traffic systems, configuration and communication products. • Industrial electrical equipment testing background. • Track record of involvement in improvement and innovation projects. • Demonstrated drive, accuracy and reliability. • Strong teamwork, communication and morale‑building skills. • Proficient with product‑specific software and MS Office. • Excellent prioritisation and attention to detail.
