Gas/Utility Engineer Intern

Job Highlights
About the Role
• Prepares technical report sections and correspondence for approval. • Reviews vendor drawings and bids to determine compliance with specifications. • Interfaces with client’s engineering representatives. • Performs routine engineering calculations and prepares sketches for a specific segment of a project. • Organizes and tracks various project activities i.e. material requisitions, vendor submittals etc. • Participates in project cost estimating. • Prepares bid documents for materials, engineered equipment, and construction within specific discipline. • Gathers, organizes and maintains data sets for specific segments of a project. • Assist with vendor inspection, startup, and commissioning. • Prepares information to be shown on drawings and reviews drawings when completed. • Assist in the preparation of man-hour and project cost estimates and schedules both internal and for the client. • Interfaces with the design/drafting group. • Responsible for preparation and review of material requisitions. • Undertake multiple tasks and interface with other disciplines to obtain information to complete the tasks. • Proactively makes changes to improve performance. • Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly. • Gathers information for and assists in the preparation of technical specifications and material requisitions.

What You Bring
• EIT certification is highly desired • Ability to travel as dictated by job requirements. • Requires good communication skills. • Mathematical skills required for completion of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • Must be able to write clearly and concisely to prepare reports, specifications and correspondence for approval. • Proficient with discipline specific software packages. • Adapts approach and considers what is important to the audience and tailors message accordingly. • Minimum 0-2 years of gas utility experience • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology from an ABET accredited engineering school. • Organizational skills. • Strong attention to details. • Need to possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving history required. • Ability to work in a Project Management team environment. • Possesses positive expectations for team members and expresses regard for them. • Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of a normal schedule. • Able to identify problems, propose solutions and seek guidance from more experienced engineers. • Experienced in spreadsheet and word processing.
