About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds. Commercial drivers provide pick‑up service for large containers, residential drivers collect household waste, and roll‑off drivers handle large open‑top and compactor containers, all requiring skilled backing maneuvers and navigation of high‑traffic streets, alleys, driveways and lots. All vehicle operations must follow WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local, state and federal laws. Drivers conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports, report unsafe conditions or incidents, attend required trainings, and work closely with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and address customer requests or service interruptions. • Operate vehicles following WM Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, or service issues promptly. • Attend required trainings, briefings, and meetings. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and identify best practices. • Communicate customer requests and service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump receptacles and leave customer sites clean and free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist other drivers as needed. • Meet physical demands such as lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and maneuvering heavy containers.

What You Bring

Applicants must have at least one year of experience operating a CDL‑required vehicle or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in the United States, and hold a valid CDL Class A or B with an air‑brake endorsement. A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, and handling heavy containers, as well as sitting, talking and hearing in various work environments.
