About the Role
The Yard Associate ensures each customer receives prompt and courteous service while maintaining a safe, accountable, and clean environment. Responsibilities include proper product storage, equipment maintenance, and supporting delivery operations by accurately tracking inventory and building loads for shipment. The position reports directly to the Yard Manager. Key duties involve greeting customers, loading and unloading materials, operating a forklift, preparing deliveries, and assisting truck drivers on site. The associate also handles customer inquiries, maintains inventory displays and pricing labels, and enforces safety policies. • Greet customers or professional contractors in a friendly manner upon entry. • Load materials into customers' vehicles or company delivery vehicles after validating type and quantity via POS system. • Unload incoming freight carefully to avoid damage to goods or carrier equipment. • Operate forklift to merchandise and stock the yard and warehouse. • Accurately build loads and prepare materials for delivery. • Assist truck drivers in delivering merchandise to homeowners and job sites using company equipment. • Respond to customer inquiries about product selection, orders, pricing, quotations, delivery scheduling, and follow‑ups. • Maintain inventory, product displays, and pricing labels by stocking, facing, straightening, and cleaning to ensure organized, safe storage. • Follow and enforce all safety rules and policies communicated by management. • Follow company safety expectations for material storage, handling, and transport. • Maintain regular, reliable, and dependable attendance. • Provide professional customer service and work collaboratively in a team environment. • Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. • Perform sitting, standing, bending, and walking throughout the day.

What You Bring
Candidates should possess forklift experience or be willing to learn, reliable attendance, and strong communication skills. A high school diploma or GED is required, with at least one year of related experience preferred. A valid driver’s license, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, are also necessary. The role demands frequent sitting, standing, bending, and walking, as well as the physical ability to lift or move 50‑100 lb and perform tasks in adverse weather conditions. • Forklift experience preferred; training provided for the right candidate. • Knowledge of building materials and construction industry is desired but not required. • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication with vendors, customers, management, and team members. • Apply common‑sense understanding and follow simple one‑ or two‑step instructions. • Hold a high school diploma or GED. • Prefer at least 1 year of related work experience. • Possess an acceptable driving record and a valid state driver’s license (Class E in Missouri). • Be highly organized with strong attention to detail. • Subject to pre‑employment drug testing, background check, and driver‑history verification. • Able to bend, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift/move 50‑100 lb frequently. • Tolerate adverse weather conditions.

The hourly wage ranges from $15 to $20, depending on region, experience, education, licenses, and certifications.
