About the Role

The Project Manager will oversee the overall financial health of projects, including subcontracts, suppliers, and cost codes. Responsibilities include developing financial projections, managing invoices, creating monthly owner billings, and handling contract buyouts. The role also involves budgeting, selecting trade partners, and maintaining schedule and quality through risk, safety, and compliance management. Leadership duties include managing Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, assigning tasks, approving timecards, and providing performance feedback. The manager serves as the primary point of contact with owners and on‑site representatives, reviewing agreements, resolving site concerns, and managing change orders with customer or architect approval. • Manage project finances, subcontracts, and supplier relationships. • Develop and maintain financial projections, cost codes, and invoicing processes. • Create monthly owner billings and oversee contract buyouts. • Budget for and select trade partners and suppliers. • Lead and mentor assistant project managers and engineers, assigning tasks and approving timecards. • Provide performance feedback and facilitate career development. • Act as primary liaison with owners and on‑site representatives, handling contract reviews and site concerns. • Execute and manage change orders, securing necessary approvals. • Maintain project schedule, quality, safety, risk, and compliance throughout execution. • Ensure adherence to construction law, Mortenson policies, and EEO/affirmative action guidelines. • Utilize Microsoft Office, project‑management software, and web applications effectively.

What You Bring

Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in construction‑related fields or equivalent experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel up to 100 %. Candidates must demonstrate detail‑oriented organization, basic knowledge of construction law, intermediate Microsoft Office and project‑management software skills, and strong communication and active‑listening abilities. Project Manager 1 requires a minimum of six years of construction management experience, while Project Manager 2 requires seven years and experience on large projects ($20 M+). Base pay ranges are $110,700–$166,100 for PM 1 and $128,300–$192,500 for PM 2, with location adjustments up to 12.5 % and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. • Travel up to 100 % as required and maintain a valid driver's license.
