About the Role

In this role, the manager will oversee a wide range of customs matters, monitor evolving trade regulations, develop optimisation and risk‑mitigation programs, manage litigation, conduct health checks, liaise with government agencies, and implement compliance policies and training. They will also analyse import/export data, drive cost‑saving initiatives, collaborate with the Global HS Classification Centre and act as the primary subject‑matter expert for customs and trade compliance across the organization. • Provide expertise and oversight on customs matters such as valuation, origin, trade agreements, anti‑dumping duties, and incentive regimes (RoDTEP, Advance License, Drawback, EOU). • Monitor regulatory changes, customs rulings and court decisions, and communicate impacts to stakeholders. • Develop and implement customs optimization and risk‑mitigation programs for all India entities. • Manage customs litigations and represent the company in court when required. • Conduct customs health checks, identify risks and coordinate corrective actions with Supply Chain, Finance and Tax teams. • Liaise with India Customs and other government agencies to resolve challenges and disputes. • Design, maintain, and deliver customs compliance policies, procedures and training programs. • Analyze import/export data to spot trends, reduce risk and uncover cost‑saving opportunities. • Drive efficiencies through continuous improvement of customs processes and use of preferential trade agreements. • Collaborate with the Global HS Classification Centre and Supply Chain to ensure correct HS classification and explore optimisation opportunities. • Serve as the primary subject‑matter expert on customs and trade compliance, supporting cross‑functional teams.

What You Bring

The position requires a minimum bachelor’s degree and at least ten years of customs and international trade experience, preferably with a Big Four customs consultancy or a customs law firm; a Chartered Accountant or Licensed Customs Broker qualification is advantageous. Candidates must possess deep knowledge of Indian customs regulations, strong stakeholder‑management skills, excellent communication, analytical and reporting abilities, and be willing to travel domestically and occasionally internationally. • Minimum bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of customs and international trade compliance experience. • Prior experience at a Big Four customs consultancy or customs law firm; Chartered Accountant or Licensed Customs Broker is a plus. • Deep knowledge of Indian customs regulations, valuation/transfer pricing, preferential agreements and incentive programs (e.g., RoDTEP, Advance License, Drawback, EOU). • Strong stakeholder‑management skills in a matrix environment and ability to influence senior leadership. • Excellent communication, analytical and reporting abilities. • Ability to develop and maintain compliance policies and risk‑mitigation procedures. • Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally.
