About the Role
Under general supervision, the technician will conduct routine soil sampling and testing, calibrate equipment, and perform soil, concrete, and asphalt laboratory tests to verify compliance with project specifications. They will prepare daily testing reports, review plans and specifications, analyze data for accuracy, and interact with client representatives on site while working with cross‑functional teams. • Perform routine soil sampling and laboratory testing for construction projects. • Calibrate testing equipment and conduct soil, concrete, and asphalt tests per specifications. • Prepare and submit accurate daily testing reports following quality procedures. • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings before testing activities. • Analyze testing data for accuracy and reasonableness. • Communicate with client representatives and collaborate with cross‑functional teams on site. • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and ethical guidelines in all actions.

What You Bring
WSP is expanding and seeks an Assistant Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to perform field and laboratory testing for construction projects in El Paso, Texas. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and have at least three years of geotechnical testing experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills, basic proficiency in MS Word and Excel, and flexibility to work outside normal business hours are required; a background check is mandatory. Preferred qualifications include current TxDOT Level 1A or 1B certifications. The role demands physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds, a medical clearance for physical examination, and the ability to work in variable outdoor conditions such as extreme heat or cold. • Maintain a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and pass a background check. • Demonstrate at least three years of geotechnical testing experience and strong communication skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and capable of preparing documentation. • Lift up to 40 lb and work in extreme heat or cold as required. • Preferably hold TxDOT Level 1A or 1B certification.
