About the Role

The position also requires building local teams, leveraging company resources, delivering world‑class services to regional clients, and participating in business development to support existing and new clients. • Apply basic project management tools and techniques across the project life cycle, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and earned value management. • Coordinate engineers and team members independently throughout all project phases. • Oversee non‑engineering elements such as public involvement, environmental permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, and construction management. • Lead QA/QC processes to ensure delivery of world‑class quality. • Mentor and train junior staff, including assistant project managers, coordinators, CAD technicians, and engineers. • Represent HDR in marketing and proposal development for new opportunities.

What You Bring

The Substation Project Manager role involves executing and managing all aspects of Power Delivery projects of varying size and complexity, including scope development, team assignments, execution, quality control, scheduling, budgeting, and closeout. Experience with substation, system protection, transmission or distribution lines, or related strategic services is preferred. HDR values an employee‑owned culture; candidates must be active participants, demonstrate strong organizational, project management, and communication skills, and share the company’s commitment to inclusion and collaboration. • Travel as needed for project execution and business development activities. • PMP certification (preferred). • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred). • Experience with Earned Value Management concepts such as Work Breakdown Structure, Physical Percent Complete, Earned vs Planned Value, Cost to Complete, and Estimate at Completion (preferred). • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (required). • Minimum 7 years of related experience (required). • At least 2 years of project management experience (required). • Ability to interact with design teams and excellent organizational, project management, and verbal/written communication skills (required). • Commitment to actively participate in HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture (required).
