About the Role

Recent projects include re‑meandering design and construction supervision for the River Breamish (SSSI/SAC) in Northumberland, the River Eye in Leicestershire, modelling for the River Cocker in Cumbria, nature recovery on Northumberland estates, landscape‑scale restoration in the North York Moors, weir removals and fish passes across the UK, and river basin‑scale planning for the Environment Agency and water companies. All Water Environment team members engage in client contact and commercial aspects, with health, safety, and environmental considerations underpinning the work. As a senior geomorphologist you will coach peers and junior staff while liaising closely with internal and external stakeholders. • Lead planning, modelling, and design of sustainable geomorphology and river restoration schemes. • Manage multi‑disciplinary teams and oversee contractor supervision and CDM compliance. • Conduct hydraulic and sediment‑transport modelling and flood hazard analysis. • Deliver high‑quality project outcomes for regulators, water companies, and environmental stakeholders. • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.

What You Bring

We are seeking an experienced Geomorphologist and River Restoration Project Lead to join our UK Water team, responsible for high‑quality project delivery that includes planning, modelling, designing, and managing sustainable geomorphology and river restoration schemes. The role requires technical excellence in geomorphology, hydromorphology, river engineering, CDM regulations, hydraulic and sediment‑transport modelling, and the coordination of multi‑disciplinary teams throughout the restoration planning and delivery process. The ideal candidate holds a degree in geography, physical sciences, or engineering, has proven river restoration experience, extensive project‑management expertise, and excellent communication, engagement, and leadership skills with multi‑disciplinary teams and stakeholders. • Hold a degree in geography, physical sciences, or engineering with proven river restoration experience. • Demonstrate extensive project‑management expertise and strong communication/leadership skills.
