About the Role

• Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for low, medium, and high‑voltage electrical substations. • Create design sketches, redline drawings, one‑line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes, and communications plans. • Develop substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC/DC system calculations, and grounding designs. • Review and coordinate work of Electrical CAD Drafters and Designers, ensuring compliance with national standards, safety codes, and project specifications. • Coordinate design deliverables with other engineering disciplines and apply engineering judgment to techniques and procedures. • Make decisions on significant design and engineering features and perform additional duties as needed.

What You Bring

• Hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (or be placed in a Design Coordinator role with expectation to obtain EIT). • Possess a master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a power emphasis (preferred) and at least 2 years of experience designing electrical lighting, power, and utility systems. • Have prior experience with an architectural/engineering or consulting firm; experience or interest in sustainable design/LEED is desired. • Hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering, proficient in Microsoft Office, and committed to HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
