Sr. Project Manager (Construction-Coal Ash)

About the Role

In this role you will focus on meeting and exceeding client expectations while planning, organizing, and staffing key field positions. You will establish project objectives and standards, maintain liaison with clients, subcontractors and vendors, monitor on‑site progress, manage contract finances, coordinate material deliveries, resolve design issues, and prepare required documentation such as status reports and billing. • Lead project planning, organization, and staffing for heavy civil projects. • Set project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards. • Serve as primary liaison with clients, subcontractors, and vendors. • Monitor on‑site construction progress and ensure schedule and budget compliance. • Manage contract financials including fees, rentals, and expense tracking. • Coordinate material deliveries and resolve design/drawing conflicts. • Prepare and submit field design changes, as‑built drawings, status reports, and punch lists. • Supervise superintendents and provide technical direction to engineers and trades. • Verify construction progress for accurate monthly billing. • Utilize Microsoft Office, MS Project/Primavera, and estimating software for planning. • Apply civil engineering knowledge of earthwork, grading, stormwater, and utility infrastructure. • Conduct job costing, scheduling, and contract change estimation. • Communicate effectively with stakeholders through written reports and presentations. • Ensure compliance with safety rules, codes, and industry standards. • Maintain meticulous attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.

Saiia Construction, a MasTec company, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for its Birmingham, AL location. The ideal candidate will bring 7‑10+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction, with preferred expertise in Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR). Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Office, construction estimating software, and scheduling tools like MS Project or Primavera. A solid understanding of civil engineering design, earthwork, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure is essential, along with strong communication, problem‑solving, and multitasking abilities. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related field and 7‑10 years of comparable experience are required.
