About the Role
Interns will work under supervision either on‑site or at the main office, supporting the project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, document control, and progress reporting. They will follow site signage and supervisor directions, provide regular status updates, and apply classroom learning to real‑world tasks while maintaining professional relationships with employees, clients, and subcontractors. Participation in training, meetings, and orientation is required, as is strict adherence to safety policies and use of personal protective equipment. • Support project team with meeting coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting. • Follow site signage and supervisor instructions; provide regular progress reports. • Apply academic knowledge to construction tasks and maintain professional relationships with employees, clients, and subcontractors. • Participate in training, meetings, orientation, and adhere to safety protocols while wearing required PPE. • Assist Project Engineer, Superintendent, or Manager with project start‑up activities and processing shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs. • Prepare and distribute contract information and estimates for subcontractor change orders. • Attend site visits to observe and document field activities. • Communicate with architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors regarding trade assignments. • Track job schedules and monitor contractor compliance with safety programs. • Perform quantity take‑offs and prepare subcontractor proposals. • Help prepare project close‑out documentation. • Work in both office and construction site settings, complying with safety policies and handling exposure to noise, weather, and hazards.

Turner’s Connecticut Main division is offering a regular, non‑exempt internship in construction located in Shelton, CT. The role provides day‑to‑day supervised activities on active construction projects, giving the intern foundational knowledge in construction management, financial oversight, safety protocols, subcontractor relations, quality control, and overall project coordination. Where applicable, the assignment may count toward educational credits. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college program—such as engineering, architecture, or construction management—with at least one year of coursework completed, and be 18 years of age or older. The role seeks individuals who are eager to learn about construction management, can commit to standard business hours and overtime, and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. The position involves typical physical demands of construction work, including frequent sitting, mobility, climbing stairs or ladders, operating hoists, and lifting up to 10 lb regularly (up to 25 lb occasionally). Work environments range from quiet office settings to active construction sites where employees may encounter noise, weather, and other safety hazards, all of which must be managed in compliance with company safety policies. • Enrolled in an accredited college program (e.g., Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management) with at least one year completed. • Must be 18 years of age or older. • Strong interest in construction management and willingness to work standard hours plus overtime. • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, and community involvement experience. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. • Ability to read and comprehend technical documents. • Capable of working independently, under supervision, and within a team. • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail. • Ability to sit, use hands, be mobile, climb stairs/ladders, operate hoists, and lift up to 10 lb regularly (up to 25 lb occasionally).

Benefits
Compensation for the position is hourly, estimated between $22.00 and $26.00 per hour.
