About the Role

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for estimating, scheduling, procurement, and management of distribution and transmission construction projects under master service agreements and site‑specific contracts. This role establishes baseline schedules, continuously monitors progress and costs, and reports results weekly while maintaining positive customer relationships and ensuring field teams have the information needed for cost‑effective, timely work. The position requires the development of advanced skills and the ability to work independently. Key responsibilities include managing projects according to Pike policies, overseeing client and subcontractor relationships, handling material procurement, and executing change control and risk management. The assistant also provides thorough pre‑construction estimates, delivers performance feedback to operations, generates contract status reports, and applies financial controls to maintain project profitability. Supporting emergency and storm restoration events is also part of the role. • Manage projects in accordance with Pike policies and procedures • Maintain effective client relationships and trust • Oversee subcontractors and material procurement • Implement change control and risk management processes • Prepare thorough project estimates prior to construction • Provide performance feedback to operations and field management • Generate contract reporting and status updates for field operations, management, and client • Apply financial controls to ensure project profitability • Support emergency and storm restoration events • Follow company rules and all other company policies

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a 4‑year degree, preferably in engineering or construction management, and have at least two years of project management experience in construction, ideally within the utility sector. They should possess solid knowledge of project management fundamentals, proficiency with Microsoft Office (MS Project or Primavera is a plus), and strong written and oral communication skills. Additional requirements include high energy, ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, proven relationship‑building capabilities, strong organizational and time‑management skills, and familiarity with project accounting and various contract pricing mechanisms. The role involves regular communication, standing, walking, and manual tasks such as handling tools and reaching with arms.
