About the Role

The role follows a Monday‑through‑Friday schedule with rotating Saturdays, working the 3 pm to 12 am shift at WM’s Orlando, Florida repair and maintenance shop. This structure is designed to deliver stable hours and support work‑life balance. As a diesel mechanic, you will maintain and repair trucks and equipment that serve more than 20 million customers nationwide, using modern tools on diesel and, at some sites, CNG fleets. Your work directly enables reliable service to local communities. • Participate in company‑matched 401(k) contributions. • Obtain adoption assistance and parental support. • Work Monday‑Friday with rotating Saturdays, 3 pm‑12 am shifts. • Perform duties in an Orlando, FL repair/maintenance shop. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems. • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and parts. • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls. • Conduct vehicle safety inspections. • Document parts usage and repair times accurately. • Assist senior mechanics on project tasks. • Review and manage repairs from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Maintain a clean, safe workspace adhering to OSHA and corporate standards. • Meet physical demands including lifting, standing, climbing, and exposure to harsh conditions.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least two years of relevant mechanical experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, be 18 years or older, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Physical capability to meet job demands and successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and physical are also required. • Preferred: 3+ years heavy‑truck diesel experience, computer skills, hydraulic or refuse experience. • Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs). • Possess at least 2 years relevant mechanical experience. • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean record. • Be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S. • Pass pre‑employment drug screening and physical examination. • Demonstrate teamwork, independent problem‑solving, and adaptability. • Work safely in indoor garage and outdoor environments with noise, odors, and weather extremes. • Obtain or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative for travel.
