About the Role

• Install, maintain, and repair valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and related water/wastewater equipment. • Operate and perform routine maintenance on trucks, digging, trenching, and medium construction equipment. • Load and unload equipment, chemicals, and supplies at worksites and storage areas. • Follow safety and security policies to maintain a safe work environment. • Perform ground‑keeping, custodial duties, and read meters as needed. • Document work activities and close work orders in the system.

What You Bring

Essential duties for this role include semi‑skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and related equipment in water distribution or wastewater collection systems; operating and maintaining trucks, digging and trenching equipment; loading and unloading supplies; operating medium construction equipment under supervision; adhering to safety policies; performing ground‑keeping and custodial tasks; reading meters; documenting work and closing work orders; and assisting with additional tasks or projects. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED; a valid U.S. driver’s license; and must obtain a CDL within 90 days of hire. No prior experience is required, though mechanical or electrical experience is preferred. Required knowledge and abilities include basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office), strong written and verbal communication, customer service skills, ability to work under pressure, multitask, and collaborate in a team environment. The position may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, wet or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas hazards, fumes, dust, and poor ventilation. Employees must be able to lift up to 50 lb, travel to various sites, and may be on‑call per the site schedule. The service area includes Rowan, Iredell, and Catawba counties. • Hold a high school diploma or GED; obtain a CDL within 90 days of hire. • Possess basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and strong written and verbal communication. • Demonstrate customer service skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, multitask environment. • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb and work in extreme temperatures and hazardous conditions.
