About the Role

Under the supervision of the Security Director, the Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the building and premises by controlling access points, patrolling the site, monitoring activities, and proactively preventing theft, unauthorized entry, vandalism, and violence. The role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical demands include regular communication with others, operating a computer, moving about the workplace, remaining stationary for about half the time, and extending hands and arms in any direction. • Patrol interior and exterior premises to detect intrusion and secure doors, windows, and gates. • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances. • Monitor and authorize entry and exit of employees, visitors, and others using on‑site systems and procedures. • Write daily activity reports documenting equipment damage, theft, unauthorized persons, and other incidents. • Notify the Security Director immediately in emergencies such as fire or unauthorized persons and report to police or fire departments. • Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to maintain order and protect property. • Answer telephone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non‑business hours. • Warn persons of rule violations and, when instructed, apprehend or evict violators using appropriate force. • Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent prohibited items from entering restricted areas. • Inspect and adjust security and life‑safety systems and equipment to ensure proper operation and detect tampering. • Monitor and adjust building system controls such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler. • Serve as an ambassador for the property owner while on post. • Assist with severe weather activities, post “Wet Floor” signs, and notify housekeeping of wet floors. • Maintain applicable licensing requirements. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

What You Bring

Key competencies for the position include customer focus and strong oral and written communication skills. The incumbent must also demonstrate integrity, a high code of ethics, and the ability to work independently while maintaining effective relationships. • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Minimum of 2 years prior security experience, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting. • CPR certified. • Knowledge of security state and federal laws and regulations. • Maintain a valid driver’s license. • Speak and read English proficiently.
