Structural Engineer - Nucor Towers & Structures
Design and support utility steel structures for transmission and distribution projects.
Job Highlights
About the Role
• Review contract documents such as transmission line drawings and project specifications. • Design transmission, distribution, substation, and other utility structures, primarily tubular steel poles and arms. • Perform preliminary design concepts through post‑sale design verification, using PLS‑Pole and proprietary calculations. • Serve as project lead when licensed and experienced. • Provide technical support and collaborate with sales, detailing, project management, and production teams. • Communicate and coordinate projects with internal and external customers, including other design professionals. • Travel occasionally to Nucor plants, utility offices, field sites, or trade shows.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering. • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification. • Demonstrate strong judgment, initiative, dependability, communication, and organizational skills. • Preferably hold a degree with structural emphasis; a master’s degree in engineering or business is a plus. • Professional Engineer licensure and/or Structural Engineer licensure or Model Law designation. • Minimum three years experience in transmission & distribution systems design, especially utility structures. • At least one year experience designing steel products, preferably at Nucor. • Proficiency with PLS‑Pole software. • Experience in a customer‑facing work environment.
