Perform safety inspections, repairs and installations of domestic gas appliances in homes.

About the Role
The engineer will work both independently and as part of a team, maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance while directly impacting the wellbeing of residents, staff and the wider public. • Service, repair and install domestic gas appliances including boilers, cookers and fires • Diagnose faults and perform remedial work safely and efficiently • Conduct landlord gas safety inspections and issue CP12 certificates • Respond to emergency callouts and urgent repairs as required • Record all work using handheld devices or job management systems • Liaise with tenants, housing officers and internal teams for clear communication • Maintain van stock levels and order materials when needed • Identify and report safeguarding concerns or property hazards • Collaborate with other trades on multi‑skill jobs • Participate in toolbox talks, training sessions and safety briefings • Wear appropriate PPE and follow health & safety procedures at all times • Support apprentices or junior engineers as needed

What You Bring
Mears Group is seeking a skilled and safety‑conscious Gas Engineer to work primarily in tenanted properties, with occasional void property assignments, delivering high‑quality gas servicing, repairs and installations across its housing stock. The role ensures that all gas appliances and systems are safe, compliant and fit for continued use. Candidates must hold a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in Gas Installation and Maintenance and possess valid ACS certifications (e.g., CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1). Experience in domestic boiler servicing, fault diagnosis and installation, along with a good understanding of electrical safe isolation, gas safety legislation and strong communication skills, is required. Benefits
The position offers an annual salary of up to £39,809.07 plus a company vehicle, fuel card and out‑of‑hours rota. It is a full‑time permanent role (42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based in Ilford.
