About the Role
This is a temporary, seasonal position running from February 23, 2026 to July 31, 2026. The Creel/Fisheries Clerk will travel to fishing access points along the Delaware River in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York to interview anglers and collect data on effort, catch, and harvest, supporting state management recommendations for American Shad and Striped Bass. Field work includes identifying, counting, and measuring harvested fish and may occur on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. • Collect field data from anglers using a defined standard operating procedure. • Conduct interviews with fishermen to record effort, catch, and harvest information. • Identify, count, and measure harvested fish on-site. • Travel to Delaware River access points across NJ, PA, and NY; work weekdays, weekends, and holidays. • Coordinate staffing and schedules with project management and field coordination leads. • Operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license.

What You Bring
• Use tablet or mobile phone for data collection (preferred). • Hold at least an associate degree in biology or related field, or equivalent experience. • Possess one year of experience in data collection, public engagement, or related work. • Background in ichthyology, fishing, or GIS/mapping software is a plus. • Local candidates from northeast PA, northwest NJ, or specific NY counties preferred. • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Proficient with Microsoft Office. • Demonstrate commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture.
