About the Role

The Local 10 Mobile HVAC Engineer supports the Assistant and/or Chief Engineer and the Senior Facilities Manager in daily maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems for the client. The role involves timely routine operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment to maximize efficiency and equipment lifespan. Key duties include preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting and other building systems, operating and maintaining boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, valves and building automation systems, and conducting interior and exterior inspections of walls, flooring, fixtures, and roofing. The engineer also responds to emergencies, supports facility operations during critical events, manages inventory, and recommends improvements to maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies. • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and building systems • Operate and maintain boilers, chillers, compressors, pumps, valves, and building automation systems • Conduct interior and exterior inspections of walls, flooring, fixtures, and roofing • Respond to emergencies and support critical facility events • Manage inventory and recommend maintenance program improvements • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies • Perform general maintenance tasks (lighting, furniture, door hardware, restroom fixtures) • Complete annual safety training • Travel between properties in varying weather conditions

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, with a preferred apprenticeship or trade school background, and have at least four years of technical experience in building engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and equipment repair. Required credentials include a valid state driver’s license and an EPA Section 608 “Universal” certification for CFC/HFC refrigerants. Required knowledge spans HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, energy management, and overall building operations, complemented by strong interpersonal, computing, and problem‑solving skills. The position demands considerable physical activity, including lifting 50 lb or more, climbing, stooping, crouching, and working in personal protective equipment, as well as regular travel between properties in varying weather. Compensation ranges from $34.00 to $40.00 per hour, with competitive pay based on geography, experience, collective bargaining status, and other factors.
