About the Role

• Make decisions within defined authority and consult supervisor as needed. • Teach and model safety culture, coaching injury‑free environment. • Provide instruction on client and project communication for fiber and building technology. • Guide coordination of design and construction to meet constructability, quality, financial and technical standards. • Train staff, subcontractors and suppliers on safety, quality and EEO requirements for fiber and building tech scopes. • Develop and execute work plans for low voltage and fiber optic installations. • Instruct on proper care, custody and control of assigned scopes. • Coach fundamentals of project scheduling for technology installations and schedule adjustments. • Educate on tracking budgets, costs and productivity using project management tools. • Teach strategies for communicating key project information to owners, design teams, subcontractors and suppliers. • Train on updating and maintaining project documentation such as drawings, logs and inspection records. • Train participants on recording and analyzing unit costs, daily reports and accurate tracking data. • Guide evaluation of self‑perform work progress and necessary adjustments. • Instruct on managing material and equipment needs for installations. • Teach selection and use of formwork, tools and equipment for technology system installation. • Instruct supervisors on accurate timekeeping, timecard approval and proper cost coding. • Coach coordination with all trades to ensure correct conduit, pathways and back‑box infrastructure before cabling. • Guide application of quality standards, specification reading and QA/QC processes. • Provide instruction on project close‑out practices, pre‑punch activities and coordination with owners and authorities. • Support learners in understanding role during project pursuit, planning and execution. • Train teams to create and adjust pre‑plans throughout project lifecycle. • Teach strategies for building and developing a skilled local workforce for fiber and technology scopes. • Guide identification of schedule impacts and cost implications from project changes. • Coach preparation and presentation for project review meetings. • Educate on reading and applying owner and subcontractor contract terms relevant to scopes. • Promote principles of diversity, equity and inclusion and nondiscrimination practices. • Manage fairly complex projects from start to finish. • Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, quality and safety on projects. • Identify, understand and actively manage project risks. • Identify problems and recommend solutions for team implementation. • Participate with project team in project pursuits. • Negotiate with owners and architects to agree on project changes. • Engage trade partners to execute scopes of work. • Apply knowledge of all low voltage systems connections to daily deliverables. • Configure and program project‑to‑project software for testing and troubleshooting. • Configure and program software for testing and troubleshooting. • Conduct effective presentations. • Manage budgets, maximize profitability and generate future work through relationships. • Assess document changes and impact on schedule. • Build relationships and collaborate within teams internally and externally. • Occasional activities include sitting and viewing computer screens.

Note: This is a full‑time traveling position; the initial assignment will be in Bowling Green, Ohio, and applicants must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time based on project needs. The Aptitude Superintendent 2 will manage and execute complex intelligent‑integration projects, oversee Aptitude trade partners, plan construction sequencing, and meet project goals to achieve timely and profitable completions while supporting JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or GED (required), a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred), and relevant experience may substitute formal education. Candidates need 5+ years of construction experience with a focus on teaching or mentoring, 5+ years with Division 8/23/25/27/28 low‑voltage systems (including fiber), 3+ years leading or supervising field staff, and preferably 5+ years delivering training on project‑management principles. A thorough understanding of low‑voltage technologies, project processes, Lean principles, budgeting, and relationship building is essential. • Perform work accurately, completely and in a timely manner. • Demonstrate thorough understanding of low voltage technology systems (structured cabling, access control, video surveillance, fire alarm, AV, building automation, nurse call, infant security, RTLS, phone systems, network electronics). • Maintain extensive knowledge of low voltage system connections. • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing (intermediate). • Proficient in MS Office (intermediate). • Apply construction management fundamentals to projects. • Understand project processes and their role in successful completion. • Use required JE Dunn construction technology. • Apply Lean process and philosophy. • Possess intermediate knowledge of specific trades and low voltage scopes. • Understand self‑perform and labor productivity. • Knowledge of Division 8/23/25/27/28 low voltage systems (intermediate). • Understand organizational structure and available resources. • Basic understanding of blueprint drawings. • High School Diploma or GED (required). • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (preferred). • Relevant experience may substitute formal education. • 5+ years construction experience with emphasis on teaching or mentoring (required). • 5+ years experience with Division 8/23/25/27/28 systems, including fiber, and ability to train others (required). • 3+ years experience leading, coaching or supervising field staff, apprentices or subcontractors (required). • 5+ years experience guiding project teams or delivering training on project management principles (preferred). • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • Travel and possible relocation; exposure to extreme hot or cold conditions. • Willingness to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs. • Frequent activities include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing and pulling.
