About the Role
The role of an Electrician on the Manchester Street Lighting account is to install and repair electrical equipment such as street light columns, bollards, signs, and feeders, following HEA and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations. They will diagnose and replace failed components, address routine street lighting faults, and ensure the security of tools and materials. Their work contributes to the maintenance and enhancement of Manchester's street lighting infrastructure, improving safety and visibility for the community. The work is performed outdoors, often under varying weather conditions, ensuring that the street lighting system operates efficiently and reliably. • Install electrical equipment (street light columns, bollards, signs, feeders) per HEA and IEE 18th Edition regulations • Repair lanterns using interchangeable electronic components • Respond to routine street lighting faults • Diagnose and replace failed components • Excavate foundations for bollards and signs • Provide out‑of‑hours emergency service on call‑out basis • Secure plant, tools, materials; ensure safe vehicle use and PPE compliance • Work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions • Attend required training, occasional overnight stays, and regular toolbox talks

What You Bring
• Hold a valid driving licence (essential) • Possess City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation • Hold Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391) or HERS/HEA qualification • Experience with electrical installations in public realm and highways • Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations • Ability to work outdoors in challenging weather conditions

Benefits
This position offers a competitive basic salary of £37,500 • £41,500, dependant on qualifications and experience. In addition, there are standby payments (on a 1 in 6 rota) and overtime compensation at 1.5 times the standard rate, with the potential to earn £50,000+. The standard weekly hours are 40 per week.
